Drill down into a chart: SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence 4.0
"Drill down into a chart We can configure charts in Web Intelligence documents so that we can drill down into hierarchies of related dimensions, such as year, quarter, month, and week, provided these hierarchies exist in the data source. In this example, we will set up the query for a chart to drill down on the basis of time (year, quarter, month, and week) and location (state, city, and store name). We will then run the query and explore the drill down options in the chart. In the query, the Year and State dimensions and the Sales revenue measure are already selected. To set up drill down, we need to open the Scope of Analysis panel. The Year and State dimensions have already been added to the Scope of Analysis panel as they are eligible to be used for drill down. Next, we will define how many levels of drill down we want for the document. Note that all of the dimensions that relate to Year and State have been added to the scope of the analysis. Only the objects selected in the Result Objects panel (Year, State, and Sales revenue) are displayed in the chart. To see the other dimensions, we need to enable drill down for the document.
The objects in the chart are now links, which we can use to drill down to other levels. In addition, the filter panel displays. When we drill down, a filter is automatically created based on the selection. We will drill down into values for California in 2005. Note that we have drilled down on both dimensions, and the chart now displays cities in California by quarter. Using the filters that have been created automatically, we will change the scope to 2006. Once we have concluded our analysis, we can disable the drill down functionality. The drill down feature is no longer active. Visit www.SAP.com/LearnBI for more tutorials on Web Intelligence and other SAP business intelligence products.
